Avatar's Kingdom

On every monday, the shard will be taken down for about an hour for maintance, repair, backups, and updates. The shard can not be backed up while it is running because all the files are constantly being written to. Sorry for the inconvience. 

To understand the shard it would be good to know something about its creator. I began playing Ultima Online (UO) during the "Second Age" which was the first expansion to UO. After many months I could no longer afford to keep the game paid for and eventually we had to stop. During Third Dawn, I again started a new account and have been playing ever since.

After a few years of UO I got invited to a "Free Shard" ran by one of my friends from an old guild. It had a lot of promise, but nothing ever became of it. Then later years when it seemed the role play guilds on my home shard of great lakes was dieing out, I decided to take another of my friends up on his offer and come play on another free shard, called Bespin Pass. After a few months of playing here, I noticed their web page was somewhat lacking updates and decided that I was intrested in helping. Razi one of the admins of the shard too me up on the offer and Sirenix the lonly mage from great lakes was reborn.

I really enjoyed helping people, and I wanted to help out with the shard, so I learned all the Gamemaster commands and I downloaded my own Shard and began working on it. The shard we now know today as the Avatars Kingdom started as a test bed for testing creatures and monsters I was going to create for Bespin Pass. When Bespin Pass decided to close. I thought it best to then turn my shard into my own for a place for me and my friends to play at. I decided eairly into the development stages that the shard would be for the public, and that any changes would be agreed on by those who currently played on it.

So why the name Avatars Kingdom? I wanted something that reflected previous Ultima Games, and something that I could draw on to get stories from, and a base to create a shard fiction story line on. Naming the shard "Avatar's Kingdom" caused glitches with the proper usage if ' for any one who's wondering, and I do not believe it would fit anyways.

Now I want everyone to know that the shard fiction I have chosen, will be based on several things. First, it is based on my research into Ultima Fiction, mixed with changes or personal touches I feel are needed to improve the over all gaming experience for the over all enjoyment. Second, it can be effected by how the player opinion about certain topics that I ask may differ. And lastly it can be effected by how I wish to add in new races for the players to select, based on fiction drawn from backgrounds of those races. I do not claim to be Lord British, Lord Blackthorn, or any other Ultima character. Adding them into our world to create our own story based on their characters is simply an attempt to add to the flavor of our shard. Knowing this, please understand that you may or may not be a more 'die hard ultima fan' then myself, so it may not be entirely accurate according to Ultima lore.

As a last note, We at the Avatar's Kingdom do not distribute or premote the usage of pirated software. If you wish to obtain a legal copy of of Ultima Online you should be able to find it at stores such as Walmart or at online stores such as Gamestop. There are places where you can also get free trials of the game.
