The most important thing to remember is while roleplaying you must act or pretend, to know nothing outside what your character sees, or knows in game. Talking about anything In real Life (IRL) should be avoided. Using a program like ICQ or AIM would be best for that. If it becomes nessasary to let someone in game know something important you should pull them asside, (inside a building or something) and talk to them Out of character (OOC) using the { and } brackets for example: {I got to go for a min, left a roast in the oven and forgot.} The brackets should also be used when using the messenger birds or [pm command in game since they are also considered role play communication.

Just because someone has their name and title/race above their heads, in game doesn't mean that your character knows who they are or even knows their name since they would not see that. When meeting someone for the first time, it is a good idea to pretend that you do not know their name, and if you wish to know each other better, introduce yourself. Except for the very obvious races, such as orcs, and gargoyles, sometimes you might not know what race the other person is either, if for example they are wearing a full face helm.

Altho it is for most now a bad habbit, players should not use Instant Message terms, such as LOL, brb, afk, and the smilies: :) :( ;) :| . Instead you should either use emotes With * and * around them, Or use the Emote Menu command:[emenu A good example of this would be *snickers* *Glares* *Blank stare* If you need to go afk, you should follow the example above using the { and } brackets.
